Chinese Ambassador to Guyana discusses possible areas of partnership with Minister Edghill

Minister of Public Works, Bishop Juan Edghill, was today paid a courtesy call by the Chinese Ambassador to Guyana His Excellency Cui Jianchun. The Ambassador was accompanied by Counselor and Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Chen Xilai, Economic and Commercial Counselor, Mr. Hanming Hu, and his Secretary, Ms. Wang Qiuyi.

Minister Edghill and the Ambassador held wide-ranging discussions and exchanged ideas on partnership for the expected transformational development expected in Guyana.

They explored possible areas for technical corporation and capacity building. Some of the major infrastructural projects being undertaken by Chinese contractors were discussed with Minister Edghill, who requested that the Chinese Embassy facilitate engagements to ensure timely completion of these projects.

Special mention and discussion surrounded the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) Modernization Project. At the end of these discussions, His Excellency reiterated his interest in continual dialogue with the Minister as they seek to strengthen the partnership.
During the Minister’s engagement with the diplomatic team, Minister Edghill underscored the importance of Guyana and China’s relationship.
