Omeana grew up at Ituni upper Berbice River and is the last of seven (7) children. She attended the Howell Wilson Community Primary School but was later transferred to Berbice Educational Institute (BEI) after her parents moved to New Amsterdam.

In 2011, Mars acquired nine (9) subjects at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate Examination (CSEC) and ventured straight into the world of work. She went back home and secured a job as a Tag Clerk in the logging community of Kawkawni, where she worked for almost three (3) years before heading back to New Amsterdam.

Mars related to this publication that she always had an interest in becoming her own boss at a very tender age. She said that she always had a passion for art and fashion.

“One day, I was reading the newspaper, and I noticed a vacancy for sales representatives at a private company named Sambora. I applied online and was called to do an interview the following week. A short time after I started working as a sales agent on the phones but within the space of about five months.”

She continued, “I was promoted because of the level of progress and profits I made on behalf of the company. Within a year, I was promoted twice and earned a job of being a supervisor, team leader and trainer for the company.”

She added that her mother got ill and required more attention and support, and she had to resign from her job in order to take care of her mother.

After being at home for some time, the 27-year-old fashion enthusiast decided to pursue her dreams of becoming an entrepreneur and makeup artist.

I started to perfect my talent by practicing on family members and close friends. With the feedback I was getting, I then went public and created a business page where I would showcase my art.

She then launched her business – Renew Beauty, and is the Co-owner of Drip Retrofit. Renew Beauty uses the tagline “run like a beast, finish like a Beauty. ”

I always love the artistry and was obsessed with fashion and costumes.  I loved drawing, and I was pretty good at it, and over time it became a hobby. After completing secondary school, I went right into the working world and forgot about my talent for a while. Then it hit me, why can’t I be my own boss? And I started working towards my brand, and here I am today!

Some of the services offered by Renew Beauty are natural glam, birthday glam, anniversary, Bridal Glams, among others. On the other hand, Retrofit sells clothing, accessories, and cosmetics. Reminiscing on her start-up process, Mars said that one of her main challenges was blending techniques.

Now that we are in a COVID-19 era, the MUA said that business has become increasingly difficult due to the fact that everyone is staying at home due to the restrictions on social activities.

“However that’s one of the main reasons I became a freelance MUA so I can provide the services directly to the client. While taking all the necessary precautions, of course.”

She added, “run like a beast, finish like a beauty isn’t just my tagline. I truly believe that if you want to achieve something, you have to put your best foot forward and get it done despite what life throws at you.”

Omeana hopes to become one of the most sought after makeup artists and be able to make her brand a light of positivity. She noted that she “would like to leave her footprint in the makeup industry long after she is gone.”
