Persaud and Chinese Ambassador set timeline for micro-enterprise driven projects

To coincide with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Guyana and the People’s Republic of China in 2022, several micro-enterprise driven projects at the grassroots level would be developed and glean tangible results.

Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, and His Excellency Cui Jianchun, China’s Ambassador to Guyana, made this agreement during a meeting at the Ministry’s Headquarters today.

Jianchun congratulated the Minister on her appointment and indicated his Government’s willingness to support “people-centered programmes.”

Minister Persaud revealed that the Ministry would be introducing several programmes shortly that are designed to ensure vulnerable groups, including women, school dropouts, and single mothers, become gainfully employed. She also noted that China’s assistance with its advanced economy and technology would enable Guyana to access training, expertise, and grants.

Accompanying HE Jianchun to the meeting were: Chen Xilai, Counselor and Deputy Chief of Mission, Hanming Hu, Economic and Commercial Counselor, and Wang Qiuyi, Liaison Officer.
