Guyana’s first Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry Guyana (WCCIG) has partnered with Creative Marketing Company (CMC) to produce its first edition of ‘Women in Focus,’ – a publication aimed at inspiring women and promoting their achievements.

The 96-page magazine, first edition features “Women in the world’s fastest growing Economy,” is due to be launched in the coming months. It is expected to be filled with pertinent information for women in business and women generally.

“We aim to publish 5000 to 10,000 copies will be printed and will be available online. Advertising space will be available for sales to businesses and organizations locally regionally, and internationally,” the WCCIG stated.

The WCCIG added that the COVID-19 pandemic has stymied the Chamber plans. However, they continue to provide support to its members through several online webinars. Some of the webinars are focused on how businesses can stay afloat during the pandemic, managing mental health, and using the digital space to create business opportunities.

Presidents of WCCIG, Kerri Gravesande- Bart, stated that when she became a female entrepreneur in 2018, she felt the power and relentless desire to help promote women-owned lead businesses, and that is exactly what the magazine will be focused on.

“ This magazine is one of the initiatives of the WCCIG and very personal to me. The magazine will reflect the aspirations, achievements, and successes of our fellow Guyanese women while being true to the substance. WCCIG, women in Focus Magazine tagline quotes, “Voices of our Women” reminds us that for many years Guyanese women have been accomplishing phenomenal milestones and contributing to our economic development,” the missive noted.

The magazine is also expected to leave positive influences for young girls for generations to come. Meanwhile, CMC Director Lesa Fleming noted that the magazine is the first of its kind, which focuses on women.

“The new ‘Women in Focus’ Magazine captures the essence of women, recognizing, and celebrating their many contributions to Guyana and the world. It is the first of its kind. Every page is crafted with love to honour the sacrifices and salute the strengths of the women being featured, and it is a privilege to work with the Women’s Chamber, in an effort to make this publication a long-awaited reality.”

The Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry Guyana (WCCIG) was established in November 2019 to empower women in business by providing advocacy, networking, and development opportunities.

Persons desirous of joining the WCCIG can do so via their website www.wcciguyana.com, and if your company wishes to be part of the magazine, they can contact the Chamber or CMC.
