A LEADER: MEENA GILL’S JOURNEY

Born and raised in the nearby village of Dora, Meena’s journey to Yarrowkabra began over two decades ago when she sought to give her children a better life.

Her upbringing, marked by challenges and hardships, instilled in her a deep sense of resilience and determination.

Despite having to leave school at a young age to care for her siblings, Meena never let go of her thirst for knowledge. In fact, she educates herself during her spare time.

Today, Meena is a councilwoman in Yarrowkabra who is responsible for public relations and community development. Her efforts have led to the implementation of schools, upgraded infrastructure, and numerous collaborative projects that have shaped the village.

A HIDDEN GEM: SAVANNAH TOURS AND THE BEAUTY OF YARROWKABRA

Yarrowkabra’s beauty extends far beyond its community. It is a place of hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

Shane D’Andrade, known as the ‘Off-road king,’ discovered the beauty of Yarrowkabra almost a decade ago and was captivated by its intrinsic charm.

His vision to showcase the village’s beauty to the world led to the founding of Savannah Tours. This venture offers guided tours through the village’s backlands and undiscovered trails.

Shane’s decision to establish his business in Yarrowkabra was a testament to the village’s potential for tourism and development. Over the years, Yarrowkabra has undergone transformative changes. It has evolved into a thriving community with a steadily rising population.

Shane’s tours offer visitors a unique and authentically Guyanese experience. It highlights the village’s untouched beauty and serene landscapes.

FROM CITY LIGHTS TO NATURE’S EMBRACE: BRITTINA’S JOURNEY
