Director of Gaico Construction, Chandanie Singh, handed over the cheque to Director General, CDC, Lieutenant Colonel Kester Craig at a simple ceremony at the CDC Headquarters at Thomas lands. Singh used the occasion to call on other corporate entities to support the programme.

“I would just like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone to do a little something; to play their role because this pandemic is not just going to go away like that, and we all need to play our part to help reduce the spread of the virus,” Singh stated.

Colonel Craig applauded Gaico Construction’s spirit of corporate responsibility, noting that the entity has been collaborating with the CDC for more than six years.

“Gaico is a company that you can call on any time of the night for support. If there is a breached sea defense, they are there to support. If there is a breached Koker or any form of hazard impact, they are always there to support at any time. So, I must commend the company for taking their corporate social responsibility very seriously,” Colonel Craig said.

Meanwhile, over at the National Gymnasium, the CDC Director also received a large number of food items from the Government of Canada, the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, and Andrew’s Supermarket. The owner of Andrew’s Supermarket, Saiku Andrews, was elated to give back.

“Whatever little you can do, just come onboard, CDC has the infrastructure, they have the manpower, the experience to do the distribution. So, whatever you can add to it, it will help.” Andrews stated.
